Last night I was fortunate enough to catch Jackson Browne at the Lyric in Baltimore. That voice, those locks, that charm…he’s still got it all. Browne played a lot of new material and some of my favorites including “Mohammed’s Radio,” by longtime friend Warren Zevon. Needless to say he was unbelievable.
The audience however, was horrific. It was a serious case of what my mother calls “adult’s behaving badly.” I get it…people were excited to see their favorite singer at such an intimate venue. It has great acoustics, so even the slightest noise can he heard throughout the building. The duration of the show was filled with people screaming song titles…even after he said that he wasn’t going to play them. IT WOULDN’T STOP. THE ENTIRE SHOW…SONG TITLE AFTER SONG TITLE AFTER SONG TITLE. Some man kept making oger noises throughout “The Pretender.” Another woman kept yelling out whatever she thought was being played…and was always WRONG.
If this happens during the Ryan Adams show in December I’m going to start kicking butts…all of them.
